Take Action - Educate, Support, Act
Educate Yourself! - Because the Consequences Aren't Minor - The justice and prison issues that impact our nation, communities and families are many. Those stories that you read of wrongful convictions are a small representation of the ills of our criminal justice system. Those stories that you read about the overuse of solitary confinement are a small representation of the torture we use in prison. Those stories that come out about corruption and over zealous law enforcement are a smattering of the events of our streets everyday. Maybe it doesn't seem important. Maybe you think it will never be your problem but think about this for a minute - 1 in 32 American Citizens have been or are currently serving time in our nations prisons and jails. The odds are not in your favor.
Juvenile justice SHOULD be about responsibility, reform, education and redemption. We are the only nation in the world that sentences it's youth to life in prison without the possibility of parole. We are the only nation that does not focus on reforming errant youth. This has not always been so.
We used to protect youth in conflict with the law. We used to send them to detention facilities where they learned to become responsible members of the community. Not anymore.
From time to time we will post information concerning legislation, petition drives and community meetings. Please sign up to receive updates from our blog so that you are aware of current events.
