This is my story of injustice, prison life and the road home.We advocate for reform because
we have met injustice and it is ugly. We advocate for reform because American prisons destroy men and women instead of rehabilitate them. We advocate because we do not want one more mother and child to experience what we have experienced. Stories are available under Jon’s posts at FreeJonny1 and they are profound. He relates to his reader his experiences as he was arrested as a juvenile, held in solitary confinement, his experience with the justice system and his questions regarding our United States justice practices. His writing style is poignant, honest and thought provoking. Take the time to read his stories…..then join us in our pursuit of justice reform and prison reform. Jonny has taken advantage of his time behind bars to educate himself (there is little or no education in prison), to keep himself informed, and hone his gift as an artist. Check out his work and the work of others on the Creative Arts page. You can also write to him at: Bent County Correctional Facility Jonathan Matheny #11988 11560 County Road FF 75 Las Animas, CO 81054 We use this blog as an advocacy platform to educate the public on justice policies, prison policies and reform measures that are being introduced. This has been a long road for both of us but it will not end when Jonny comes home..... Read on. Use your voice. Let’s live responsibly, change lives, restore communities, and return to justice! Justice without compassion is vengeance.
Compassion without justice is unmerited mercy. | ||
